Canto V : Dante's Inferno

Canto V showed Dante and Virgil descending into the second circle. Here Minos, a typesetters fiber of guard, assigns souls to particular regions of hell according to the severity of their sins. Then Minos attempts to shake up Dante and Virgil to a specific circle, but be sets silent when Virgil states his divine order. Moreover, in Canto V we also see the first circle that has souls bend ab kayoed endlessly. Here there argon people who fundawork forcetally died because of savor. Of them were Cleopatra and Dido. The mass of these souls are women. I disagree with the insinuation that men are simply tempted and women are responsible for the seduction. Yet, this though washbowl be traced to the Creation story when Eve tempted Adam with the apple. yet this does non mask the fact that this is still a ferment of sexism. in any case one of the inhabitants, Francesca also died for fuck. I was curious so I did some further reading, and it is when I looked it up that I prove out that Dante was referring to Francesca da Rimini who married her husband for political reasons. She consequently began having an affair with her husbands brother. Her husband discovered the affair and murder them both. Yet, conflagration depicts the soul of Francesca telling Dante that she fell in roll in the hay with her buff while reading Lancelot. Though such souls are tough with a kind of compassion and not tack to recruit onher into the characteristic fiery pits of hell, they are still punished for love by having to whirl about endlessly. Apparently, Francesca is not punished for criminal conversation but for love. I see this because Dante actually feels an extreme figuring of pity for her and her lovers souls. --References --> This essay is relat ively well written. However, the writer fa! ils to find out the nature of Dantes encounter with Francesca. Francesca de Rimini fell into the habit of having long nip and tuck encounters with her brother-in-law. One day, they took to reading the tale of Lancelot, one of the best get laid amorous tales from that time. So picture the situation: two sporting people who have grown familiar with one anothers company, come across alone, reading a famous dirty book. Was Francesca fair? I dont think so. This is somewhat like sprawling out on a waterbed, putting a very r-rated ripple in the VCR, and then saying that it was all the fault of the movie.
